Hello and welcome to our November e-bulletin.

There's just over one month to go before our Annual Conference & AGM on 8 December. Registration is open via Eventbrite, and is free for members sending one delegate. We would be grateful if you could register as a delegate ASAP.

If you're not already a member, please see our announcement below regarding our Membership Drive. If you join right away, your delegate place at the Annual Conference will be free of charge.

If you would like to be a presenter at the conference, there are still a few time slots available. Or if you would like to be an exhibitor, we would be pleased to arrange this with you. The event item below includes all the details on both opportunities and more.

Our 'Freight Expectations' event with WestTrans on 27 November in London is also one not to miss. Register here for this free event.

Away from the event front, if you have an interest in Personalised Travel Planning, do take a look at the EPOMM E-Update on this topic (news item below).

Lastly, we encourage you to send in your news, job postings and event listings for future issues of the monthly e-bulletin. Just email them by the end of the month. This is a free service for members (£100 per item for non-members), reaching nearly 4,000 people. Also anyone may send in any email addresses that you'd like added to our e-bulletin distribution list, to info -at-

EPOMM E-Update November 2015 on PTP

EPOMM - the European Platform on Mobility Management* - has released its November 2015 e-bulletin on the topic of Personalised Travel Planning (PTP). It provides an excellent overview and analysis of the PTP approach, a review of its effectiveness and plenty of UK and international examples of PTP best practice.

Read the EPOMM E-Update here.

As the UK national body represented within EPOMM (with financial support from the DfT), Act TravelWise copy-edits the English version of the e-bulletin and distributes it within the UK.

* Note that 'mobility management' is the European term equating roughly to transport demand management (TDM) - the 'soft measures' aimed at travel behaviour change away from single-occupancy car use, sometimes referred to as 'smarter choices' in the UK.

Act TravelWise Annual Conference - 28 January 2016

Act TravelWise is holding its Annual Conference and AGM on Thursday 28 January 2016 at the Camden Centre in Central London.

As a highlight, the conference provides an early opportunity to hear directly from the Department for Transport regarding the Spending Review outcomes and new funding opportunities. This will be followed by afternoon workshops: 'Tips for Preparing Funding Bids' and 'How Active Travel Funding Bids are Appraised by DfT and LEPs'.

Speakers include:

  • Robert Goodwill MP (Minister of State for Transport)
  • Joe Irvin (Chief Executive, Living Streets)
  • Francesca Racioppi (European Centre for Environment and Health, World Health Organization)
  • Philippe Crist (International Transport Forum, OECD)

The full-day event will also feature presentations and panels on topical issues in the sustainable transport field, relevant to practitioners in the public, private and third sectors. This content will be divided into two streams:

  1. active travel and health
  2. collaboration between local government and the private sector

The 'active travel and health' stream addresses the latest case studies and research on how walking and cycling promotion and infrastructure can lead to healthier communities. The second stream includes case studies of successful public-private sector collaboration.

The day offers a wide range of learning and networking opportunities, and we very much hope you can join us. Please click below for the full programme and details or register now via Eventbrite.
