Welcome

Hello and welcome to our October e-bulletin.

Registration is now open for our Annual Conference & AGM taking place 25 January 2018 in Birmingham, on the theme 'Forward Thinking, Future Planning'. The conference web page includes the draft programme, registration link and opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors.

We also have a number of exciting events in the late-autumn pipeline, including a workshop with OLEV and Portsmouth City Council on on-street EV charge points and an Act TravelWise Business Forum 'soft launch' at Heathrow Academy. These and other events are just awaiting final details before registration can open. Events are normally free for members sending one delegate, with fees applicable for non-members. We're increasingly seeking to hold trainings before/after regional meetings on the same day in the same venue. In addition, there are PTRC courses (see announcement below) where members receive a 15% discount.

Our Member Login Area on Acttravelwise.org is now populated with scores of guidance documents, conference presentations and other resources made available exclusively to members. If you're not already an Act TravelWise member, it's easy to join and you can do this by completing our Membership Form found on the website. Among other benefits, membership gives you a free place at all of our events throughout the year. You also get discounts on registration at our partners' events.

We encourage you to send in your news, job postings and event listings for future issues of the monthly e-bulletin. Just email them by the end of the month. This is a free service for members (£100 per item for non-members), reaching nearly 5,000 transport professionals. Also anyone may submit email addresses for adding to our e-bulletin distribution list here.

Act TravelWise Annual Conference & AGM - 25 January 2018

The UK and much of the world are experiencing profound social, economic and technological changes - addressed at last year's Annual Conference on 'Sustainable Travel in a Changing World'. On 25 January 2018, with the theme of 'Forward Thinking, Future Planning', we will take this to the  next level, exploring the long-term planning that is required in response to these changes.

A future focus need not be 'futuristic' in the science fiction sense; it can equally be about developing positive community-led visions to help shape the future or 'building in' resilience to change. Voices from Central Government, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and other key influencers will serve to ground the theme within the current planning context.

Click below to read more, where you will find the draft programme, registration link and opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors.
