Act TravelWise in Transition to Charitable Company

Exciting times ahead! As decided at the January 2016 AGM, Act TravelWise is to transition from a company limited by guarantee into a charitable company. We are now quite far along in the process, with our application to be submitted to the Charities Commission immediately following the January 2017 AGM.

As part of this process, the current Articles of Association will be replaced with new Articles based on the recommended model document produced by the Charities Commission. The new proposed Articles of Association will be circulated to all members well in advance of the January 2017 AGM, for ratification there.

Also as part of this transition, the current Board of Directors will be replaced by a Board of Trustees. Some of the current directors will become trustees and additional trustees will be sought from among the membership.

Trustees with the following backgrounds are particularly sought, who are interested in volunteering their time and energy to the organisation:
a. health sector professional
b. public sector transport/travel senior manager
c. sustainable travel/transport academic
d. charity sector expert/manager
e. strategic development expert
f. events/training programme manager/director

If you are potentially interested in becoming a trustee, contact Randall Ghent at randall@acttravelwise.org or on 0208 144 7366 for an initial discussion.
