Sustrans Big Pedal 2018

Sustrans Big Pedal 2018, which runs from Monday 23 April to Friday 4 May, will see pupils, parents and teachers across the UK leave their cars at home and get on their bikes and scooters for their journeys to and from school. Support is available for participating local authorities and schools.

The Role of Technology in Sustainable Transport - 19 April 2018

Craig Barrack of carbon heroes ltd will lead a two-hour workshop in Liverpool covering a wide range of technological options that can facilitate sustainable travel: (a) technology as an alternative to transport, (b) social media, (c) mobile devices, (d) location-based services and (e) big data. The workshop will take place at WSP in Liverpool prior to the North West regional meeting. Registration is now open. Act TravelWise members receive one free delegate place. There's a modest fee for non-members and additional delegates.

The next regional meeting in the North West will take place on Thursday 19 April in Liverpool, hosted by WSP. The meeting will follow the training workshop 'The Role of Technology in Sustainable Transport' held just before the meeting from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the same venue. The regional meeting will take place from 3:15 to 4:30 pm and will feature presentations from members and partners in the region.

Area Travel Plan Delivery: Securing Funding and Creating Legacy

On 27 April in Horsham, Andy Winmill and Charlotte Collins of WSP will lead a workshop on delivering area-based travel plans led by local authorities. The workshop will examine innovative approaches to creating a blueprint for investment, securing funding through the planning process, guidance for developers, and insight in developing on-going quality and consistency in delivery.

Smart Ways to Promote Sustainable Travel - 3 May 2018

Act TravelWise is seeking to boost regional networking activity in the East of England through this event marketed throughout the region and open to all transport practitioners at no charge. The event highlights various innovative transport initiatives in Cambridge.

The free event will take place at the University of Cambridge from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, followed by an East of England regional meeting from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, which will serve to help shape ongoing regional activity based on the needs that are vocalised by those in the region.

Bike Sharing Schemes: Options, Suppliers and Implementation - 9 May 2018

A wide variety of bike sharing schemes have been implemented in the UK and abroad. Bike sharing is a growing and developing phenomenon, with options including docked and dockless and multiple operators competing in the market. The workshop will take place 10:00 to 12:00 in Birmingham hosted by Atkins, followed by a regional meeting in the same venue from 12:15 to 1:30 pm. The workshop includes speakers from Carplus Bikeplus, both a docked and dockless bike sharing operator and Transport for West Midlands. Registration is now open. This workshop is free for Act TravelWise members sending one delegate. Non-members and additional delegates are charged at £50 + VAT.

How Your Business Can Improve Commuter Travel and Employee Satisfaction - 12 July 2018

Does your business have problems with parking, commuting or travel management? A free event on Thursday 12 July in London organised by Act TravelWise will help steer you towards solutions. The training event, to be delivered by leading experts in the field, will explain how to follow best practice in developing a business case for transport improvements, how to better manage on-site parking, and how to engage employees on the topic of air pollution. The fourth and final speaker will present on Whim, an innovative Mobility as a Service platform and its applications in the business sector.
