We've got lots of news to report and events to inform you about, so do scroll down and have a look. In the sidebar, you'll also find a job opportunity with our member TPS Transport Consultants in West Yorkshire.

Our Business Forum (an enhanced membership scheme soon to be branded as Business+) is holding its third event on 12 July in London, titled 'How Your Business Can Improve Commuter Travel and Employee Satisfaction'. As the event was postponed from 14 May, new delegates will be limited to those who are representing businesses seeking to address parking, transport and travel issues at their own sites. If you have contacts with such businesses, please encourage them to register.

PTRC Course Discounts: Act TravelWise members receive a discount on course bookings. The upcoming courses and more information can be found here. There's also a discount on relevant Landor LINKS conferences, e.g. Cycle City Active City (June conference in Manchester with details in this e-bulletin) and Healthy Streets (October 2018, London).

Save the Date!: The Act TravelWise Annual Conference & AGM 2019 will be held on 31 January 2019 in Birmingham. The theme is currently being finalised.

Our Member Login Area on Acttravelwise.org is now populated with scores of guidance documents, conference presentations and other resources made available exclusively to members. If you're not already an Act TravelWise member, it's easy to join and you can do this by completing our Membership Form found on the website. Among other benefits, membership gives you a free place at all of our events throughout the year. You also get discounts on registration at our partners' events.

We encourage you to send in your news, job postings and event listings for future issues of the monthly e-bulletin. Just email them by the end of the month. This is a free service for members (£100 per item for non-members), reaching nearly 5,000 transport professionals. Also anyone may submit email addresses for adding to our e-bulletin distribution list here.

Freelists Groups for Regional Networking

Spurred on by GDPR, Act TravelWise has established email groups via Freelists.org to facilitate networking among its regional networks. So far there are four groups set up. If you are an Act TravelWise member in one of the regions below, you can now send a 'subscribe' email to join the appropriate group.

Yorkshire & The Humber - Join by sending an email to act-travelwise-yorkshire-request@freelists.org with 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by visiting the list page at http://www.freelists.org/list/act-travelwise-yorkshire.

Midlands - Join by sending an email to act-travelwise-midlands-request@freelists.org with 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by visiting the list page at http://www.freelists.org/list/act-travelwise-midlands.

All four groups are set up as 'moderated discussion' for now, meaning that subscribers will need their messages approved by the moderator before they are passed on to the group. Subscribers can set their preferences online, for example to receive a digest version rather than each message separately. We'll be monitoring how people feel about the groups before adding more regions.

TravelWise Week 2018

In response to high demand from the Act TravelWise membership, TravelWise Week is back in 2018! The week-long campaign will be held at the same time as, and in co-operation with, European Mobility Week - 16-22 September 2018. Everyone is invited to get involved - whether you represent a local authority, transport operator, business, university, health care provider or even just as an individual. It's an opportunity to engage with the public, your employees and other partners.

South West Regional Meeting - 17 July 2018

The South West regional group will have its next meeting on Tuesday 17 July, 1pm to 4pm, hosted by North Somerset Council. The topics will include the Go Ultra Low West (GULW) EV Project in the West of England, Electric Vehicles and Planning Policy, and Cycle to Work Scheme and Electric Bikes.

Transport for the North's Proposed Strategy - 18 July 2018

The TfN board is now considering the results of the public consultation around its draft Strategic Transport Plan, before its process of revision begins. In their constructive engagement with the strategy, environmental transport organisations have been asking some important questions: will there be spatial ‘winners and losers’; how valid is the translation of the strategy’s economic foundations into a set of transport interventions; and does the strategy pass its carbon reduction test? This event provides an opportunity to hear different sides on these issues and to contribute to an ongoing debate about how the strategy can be improved before its adoption. Tickets are free for Act TravelWise members.
