MAIN PURPOSE

 

·        To interpret and prepare advice on transport policy, relating national and regional policies and influences to local circumstances.

·        To lead or contribute to the preparation of transportation projects and funding bids.

·        To assist in securing understanding and acceptance of the Council’s policies through communication with Members, other officers, stakeholders and the public on these matters, and through participating in internal and external meetings with a range of partners.

·        To take personal responsibility as lead officer on one or more transport topic areas.

·        To prepare complex reports and other statements in respect of transport policy and projects.

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

 

1.      To assist the Head of Transport Strategy in analysing, interpreting, developing and implementing transport policy, the integration of public transport and other policy areas and advocacy of sustainable travel.

2.      To act as the main Council contact point for one or more transport topics and to maintain up-to date knowledge of  developments relating to these topics.

3.      To keep up-to-date with transport policy issues more generally, particularly as they relate to London.

4.      To contribute to the preparation of major policy statements and other documents, including bids for external funding.

5.      To develop and deliver innovative transport projects from concept to commissioning, working as an expert client or part of a project team.

6.      To prepare briefs, tender and appoint consultants as client officer and manage project budgets under the supervision of the Head of Transport Strategy.

7.      To attend and provide professional advice at meetings with Councillors, other transport authorities, stakeholders and the public.

8.      To provide advice and comments to the Planning Division on development applications with strategic transport impacts.
