Following upon a regional launch event back in May, the second Yorkshire & The Humber regional meeting will be held in Leeds on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), Wellington House, Wellington Street, Leeds LS1 2DE (just across the road and to the left from Leeds Station).
Titled 'The Future is…………Shared', the event will feature presentations from Alistair Kirkbride and Antonia Roberts of Carplus Bikeplus. Please arrive 5:15 pm for 5.30 - 6.45 pm (following which we will retire to a nearby public house to continue discussions!).
Alistair and Antonia will discuss the rapidly evolving world of car clubs & ride-sharing and bike-sharing. Car clubs and bike share schemes are enjoying double digit annual growth. In 2015, over 10m bike share trips were made in the UK and many more towns and cities are becoming interested in developing their own schemes. The Car Club Coalition has set a target of a million car club users in London by 2025. Uber and other ride-hailing services will account for a quarter of all trips globally by 2030, according to another report. Alistair and Antonia will describe some of the new trends in car and bike sharing, assess how mainstream they could become and how these schemes can contribute towards Mobility as a Service.
