Working with public transport is one of the key elements of a successful travel plan, and can often be one of the most difficult to get right, and mistakes can be expensive.
This event will cover the key issues which are involved in providing effective public transport access to sites through a travel plan.
In the first session we will look at the different models for providing staff buses, everything from our hosts, the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, which runs one of the largest fleets of buses in the region to providing shuttle buses running to and from the local station.
The second session will focus on promoting existing public transport services, looking at the various options when providing effective information and mapping. We will include a presentation on the role of local authorities, and First Capital Connect will present the progress that has been made on the Station Travel Plan being trialled at Hatfield Station.
In the final session we will cover how to manage relations with public transport operators through Quality Bus Partnerships, and outline the new rules for providing discounted season tickets through the salary sacrifice scheme.
The event will conclude with a panel debate on how these changes could affect the travel plan field and what options travel planners are left with.
The event will be hosted at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield which is easily accessed from Hatfield Station, which is one of the pilot stations to develop a travel plan.
