The primary purpose of the job is to co-ordinate, with support from others, the delivery of Travel Advice to Business (TAB) Project activities with the business community (taken to include all large trip generating uses) across a predefined area.
This will include provision of site specific advice to a prioritised list of businesses (using a panel of specialist consultants), the delivery of self-help materials to other organisations, attendance at existing local business groups and the delivery of bespoke seminars and other events. The overall goal for the post-holder being to encourage and enable organisations to prepare sufficiently (themselves, their staff, their visitors, their customers and their suppliers) to be able to respond to the travel and transport challenges associated with the Games. The company is looking for a practitioner who is experienced in promoting the benefits of travel behaviour change within a business environment and has a proven track record in successfully developing and maintaining relationships with senior business decision makers. They will be experienced in co-ordinating such programmes, and gaining consensus along the way and being able to demonstrate progress.
Key accountabilities
- Implement, and regularly review, a detailed delivery plan for TAB activities with all businesses in a predefined area of London.
- Secure the involvement of a predefined portfolio of businesses to the London 2012 TAB site specific travel advice service and then effectively manage the relationship with each business providing ongoing support as necessary.
- Appoint, manage and monitor the performance of consultant appointed to the Site Specific Advice panel, ensuring their compliance with agreed procedures, negotiation of terms, expenditure approvals etc.
- In partnership with the TAB team member responsible for events management develop a programme of local seminars aimed at business leaders and provide additional support as necessary.
- Attend existing employer and related groups to raise awareness of the responses that London 2012 is hoping to stimulate from the business community and to promote the self help and site specific advice services available.
- In partnership with the TAB team member responsible for distribution to materials ensure the timely distribution (electronic and/or paper copy) of supporting self-help materials (i.e. the TAB Toolkit) to organisations within the predefined area of London that are not to receive site specific travel advice.
- Contribute to the ongoing review of all materials related to the TAB Project.
- Develop, manage and co-ordinate relationships with external stakeholders, including Boroughs, employer groups, individual employers, the GLA and Transport for London (both those responsible for workplace travel planning and freight).

Knowledge
- Awareness of business focused behaviour change programmes ideally in a travel and transport context. (E)
- Good practical IT skills on standard office packages, for report preparation (Word), presentations (Powerpoint), (E) project management (MS Project and Primavera) (D)
- A full UK Driving Licence. (D)
- A qualification at degree level or above in a subject related to transport planning, business engagement or behaviour change. (D)
Experience
- Substantial experience working in travel behaviour change and ideally with additional broader experience in transport planning, business engagement, relationship management or an associated industry. (E)
- Experience of travel advice to business programmes involving the full mix of activities including engagement with businesses, provision of tailored advice, and preparation of supporting materials. (D)
- Experience of supervising others in the delivery of tasks to time and budget. (E)
- Experience in the hands-on delivery of complex projects. (D)
- Experience in dealing with employer groups and both public and private sector employers. (E)
- Experience in working at a senior level to secure buy-in. (D)
- Experience in a senior business-to-business customer service environment (D)
